The House of Representatives convened a significant committee hearing today with officials of the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL), aimed at addressing key economic and financial matters affecting the nation. The hearing was jointly presided over by Hon. Williams alongside House Speaker Hon. Richard Nagbe Koon.

The session brought together lawmakers, financial experts, and senior officials from the Central Bank of Liberia to discuss issues relating to monetary policy, the stability of the Liberian dollar, banking sector performance, and ongoing efforts to strengthen the country’s financial system.

During the proceedings, Hon. Williams emphasized the importance of transparency, accountability, and collaboration between the Legislature and the Central Bank in ensuring sound economic governance. He noted that the hearing serves as an important platform for lawmakers to seek clarity on policies and programs intended to improve Liberia’s economic outlook.

Speaker Koon, in his remarks, reaffirmed the Legislature’s commitment to working closely with national institutions to promote fiscal discipline and protect the interests of the Liberian people. He urged officials of the Central Bank to continue implementing policies that will help stabilize the economy, encourage investment, and build public confidence in the banking sector.

Officials of the Central Bank of Liberia provided updates on current financial trends, foreign exchange management, inflation control measures, and initiatives aimed at improving access to banking services across the country. Committee members also raised concerns regarding the impact of economic challenges on ordinary citizens and called for practical solutions to address rising financial pressures.

The hearing forms part of the House of Representatives’ ongoing oversight responsibilities to ensure that public institutions operate effectively and remain accountable to the people of Liberia.
